Lip Enhancement |
 |
Lip enhancement is designed to make the lips fuller or more defined while at the same time helping to reduce fine
wrinkles around the mouth- preventing lipstick "bleeding". While this procedure is ideal for patients who have
naturally thin lips or whose lips have thinned with age, it is also a suitable treatment for those wanting to create
a natural looking, sensuous pout. The Jade Cosmetic Clinic of Cairns uses a selection of injectable gel fillers that have an excellent proven safety
track record. The clear gel fillers are made of stabilised hyaluronic acid (HA).
HA holds water, hydrates and gives
volume, allowing structure to be restored.
This non-permanent product is metabolised slowly into the skin. Once broken
down it passes through the liver quickly and is broken down into carbon dioxide and water.
Lip Enhancement is safer
with a temporary filler because it contains no animal proteins, allergens or chemicals.
General Procedure
Injectable fillers are quick and simple to use. Depending on the product used, it can last up to 18 months. Most
people return at 9-12 months for a top up.
Lip borders may be improved by defining the rim of the lip and the lip
body (pink of lip) may be augmented to enhance shape and fullness. A local anaesthetic is used with the product
to minimise any discomfort,
which is generally mild and transient. The entire procedure will take approximately
30 minutes.
Recovery Process
Most people's lips will be minimally swollen for two to three hours. There is no downtime associated with lip
enhancement and many patients return directly to work after their treatment.
Possible side effects
The injection itself should cause minimal discomfort, and if experienced, side effects are generally temporary
swelling,
redness and occasional bruising, the majority of which should last 3 days or less.
Most people resume their normal activities immediately following the procedure, but for a first treatment it is
probably better to schedule your appointment for the end of the day and preferably the end of the week.
