Rosacea is a common inflammatory skin condition that appears as redness and visible blood vessels on the face. It can also produce small red bumps that may contain pus. These symptoms often appear in flares, occurring for weeks to months before vanishing. Although it can affect anyone, rosacea most commonly affects middle-aged women with fair skin. Genetics, exposure to extreme temperatures, the microbes on our skin, emotional stress and some medications and cosmetics have been shown to contribute to the flare-ups.
