WHAT TREATMENT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

EYEBROWS

Airbrushed brows $700

Description: A soft shading technique that resembles a “tinted” or “shadow” effect once healed. Perfect for clients who naturally have a balanced shape, but are seeking definition throughout the body and tails of their brows. Also a great option for clients who have very little to no natural hair.

Method: Pigment is lightly dusted into the skin using a very fine nano needle and permanent makeup machine. More density is focused towards the body and tails, whilst the front of the brows are kept beautifully subtle. This gradient creates a very natural effect, whilst providing the perfect amount of definition. Numbing cream can be used throughout the treatment (optional purchase) to keep you very comfortable. Our clients who order numbing cream report feeling next to no pain at all.

What to expect: Expect a 3.5-4 hour treatment. The first hour of your treatment will be spent planning, including meticulous measuring and drawing to ensure you will be completely happy with your new brow shape. Your brows will be designed based upon your facial structure, features, and desired goals. A pigment will be custom blended for you based upon your natural brow hair colour, skin undertones, and desired goals. Expect that your brow colour may appear “too warm” during your first week of healing. This extra warmth is designed to counteract ashy healed results, and will cool down significantly over the 2 week healing process. Colours heal to look very natural. Expect that your brows will also be too dark initially. They will start “peeling” at approximately the 1 week mark. The colour underneath will seem dull or faded, and then it will come back through over another week. Expect that your fully healed result will likely be too “soft” after your first session. Cosmetic tattooing is a two-step process, in the first session we focus on creating your base whilst in the second session we focus on achieving desired saturation. You will return for your touch up session (2 hour session) within 4-8 weeks.

Hybrid brows $700

Description: A combination of Airbrushing and Nano “hairstrokes.” Perfect for clients requiring shape adjustments, for “gappy” brows, or for brows that start slightly too far apart. Nano strokes look best blended with real hair.

Method: Nano strokes are implanted using a PMU machine and fine nano needle. They are different to microblading (where micro cuts are created and then filled with pigment). Nano strokes provide longer lasting results compared to microbl, require no cutting of the skin, and are a safe option for your skin long-term. Airbrushing will start from the tails of your brows and softly fade into the strokes at the front of the brow. Hairstroke patterns are designed uniquely for every client based on natural hair growth patterns.

You will return for your touch up session (2 hour session) within 4-8 weeks.

LIPS

Full lip blush $800

Description: This treatment is for clients desiring more colour in their lips, but in a subtle way. As we age we naturally lose pigment in our lips, which can make us look “washed out” or older than we are. Replenishing a soft blush of colour will restore youth in a soft yet powerful way. Giving the illusion of fuller lips without actually making them bigger, lip blush tattooing is the new filler! Combine the two, and you have magic!

Method: Pigment is dusted over the lips using a PMU machine and nano needle. The key is in the colour choice, which is customised to match your natural lip colour & skin tones. The aim is to achieve a natural-looking, overall wash of colour; gone are the days of harsh lip liner tattooing! Once healed nobody should guess what you’ve had done! Numbing cream can be used throughout the treatment (optional purchase) to keep you very comfortable. Our clients who order numbing cream report feeling next to no pain at all.

What to expect: Expect a 3.5-4 hour treatment. The first hour of your treatment will be spent planning, including meticulous measuring and drawing to ensure that your lip shape is balanced and complementary to your face. Expect minor swelling for 24-48H following your treatment. Your lips will be very bright on the day, however the colour will drop out significantly over the 2 week healing process. Expect peeling to start around days 5-7. Expect that your healed result will likely be too “soft” after your first session. Cosmetic tattooing is a two-step process, in the first session we focus on creating your base whilst in the second session we focus on achieving desired saturation. You will return for your touch up session (2 hour session) within 4-8 weeks.

NOTE: If you have a history of cold sores you must ensure that you are taking preventative medication prior to getting this treatment. Please see a pharmacist or doctor AT LEAST 1 week prior to treatment for advice.

SALINE TATOO REMOVAL (LI-FT)

$150 (per session)

Description: LI-FT is a safe and effective method of removal for unwanted cosmetic tattoos, including eyebrows, lips, and eyeliner “wings.” It is also effective for small body art tattoos (no larger than a deck of cards). The average number of recommended sessions for fading or complete removal is 2-5. Results will vary depending on (but not limited to) the client’s skin condition, lifestyle, health profile, the ability to heal well, the type and color of pigment to be lightened, depth of pigment placement, technique used, the configuration of the needle used, and compliance with the specific LI-FT aftercare instructions. Some tattoo lightening procedures will be more or less successful than others based on these factors, therefore no guarantees can be made as to how many sessions will be required or whether complete removal can be achieved.

Method: A pre-numb can be used (optional purchase) to ensure your comfort. Our clients who order numbing cream report feeling next to no pain at all. Once numb, the LI-FT solution will be tattooed into the skin before applying a 10 minute “soak.” By process of osmosis, the concentration of salt in the solution will draw water particles from your body towards the surface, drawing pigment particles up with it. The pigment particles will then be removed during the scabbing process. Often pigment particles are drawn towards the surface but do not get close enough to be removed with the scabbing process, hence multiple sessions are often required.

What to expect: Expect a 1.5 hour treatment per session, which includes 1/2 an hour of numbing time. Expect significant redness on the day of treatment, and 1-2 weeks of scabbing. It is important that the area of treatment is left alone for 2 weeks with no makeup or products applied other than the recommended aftercare. It is recommended that you don’t plan a removal session around the time of important events. You will return for another removal session no less than 8 weeks later. You cannot receive a new cosmetic tattoo until at least 8 weeks after your last removal session, to ensure that your skin is in a healthy condition.

PRE AND POST CARE

PRE CARE - LIPS & BROWS

Avoid:

Chemical peels, microdermabrasion or facials within 1 month, alcohol within 24 hours, coffee on the morning of your appointment, fish oil within 1 week, Omega 3 or vitamin E supplements within 1 week, antibiotics or painkillers within 1 week, or sunburn within 2 weeks. No botox near the area within 2 weeks, no filler near the area within 4 weeks. Don’t plan major events during the 2 weeks of healing, brows will be darker than desired with minor flaking/ scabbing. Lips will be much more vibrant than desired, with dryness & minor flaking/ scabbing.

Brows only: No waxing within 3 days of treatment, no tinting within 3 weeks of treatment (we want to see your natural colour), no using brow growth serums within 1 month.

Lips only: No laser hair removal within 2 weeks, no waxing within 3 days.

Do:

Gently exfoliate the area for 3 days prior and ensure that the skin is well nourished. Wash your hair the night before, as you will need to avoid wetting the area for 2 weeks. Come in with an open mind about the different techniques, but also come in with pictures if you already have a good idea of what you want.

Lips only: Bring your favourite lipstick or gloss to show us. If you have a history of cold sores, it is highly likely that the simulation of the treatment will activate the herpes virus. It is therefore essential that you consult with a pharmacist and request preventative medication AT LEAST 1 week prior to your appointment. If you have an active cold sore, ensure that you notify the clinic as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment.

AFTERCARE - LIPS & BROWS

Avoid for 2 weeks:

Touching or picking the area, sweating (no cardio, gym, sauna’s or spa’s), spray tanning, makeup, soap, cleansers, water, facial treatments, sleeping on your face, high UV exposure, sun beds, infrared light exposure.

Brows only: No tinting for 4 weeks, no waxing for 2 weeks.

Lips only: No kissing, alcohol or hot drinks for 5-7 days, and drink all liquids through a straw.

Do for 2 weeks:

Clean the area morning & night with a damp cotton tip; dab dry and then apply a very thin film of Stratamed (no fingers!). Stratamed should dry clear within 5 minutes. Once dry, gently remove excess around the area if necessary.

Lips only: Also apply bepanthen whenever possible throughout the day to keep the area hydrated, as lips will feel dry throughout the healing process. If the lips are too dry this may potentially lift pigment away sooner than desired.

1 WEEK POST TREATMENT, WHERE HAS THE COLOUR GONE?

During the healing process the tattooed area will become darker, and minor scabbing will develop as new, collagen-rich skin forms underneath. This new skin is slightly opaque in colour and creates a temporary ‘veil’ over the pigment. You will start to see this as the scabs flake off. It will make the pigment appear faded and dull. Within 1-2 weeks, the new skin will settle and the colour will return. Protect and nourish this new skin as directed.

AFTERCARE - TATTOO REMOVAL

It is critical to follow all aftercare instructions to prevent complications, scarring and to achieve optimum removal results. Please read the following carefully.

For 2 weeks or until scabs have fallen off (naturally, do not pick/touch!):

  • Clean the area morning + night with sterilised saline, using a cotton round or cotton tip.
  • Be very gentle when wiping or dabbing clean, any pressure will interrupt the process of osmosis, and therefore stop the process of the pigment being drawn towards the surface!
  • The area will start to form a scab around days 3-5.
  • Do nothing else, the area needs to be kept clean, dry & open to the air!
  • Continue the cleaning process for more than 2 weeks if there is still any scabbing.

ONLY once all scabs have fallen off:

  • Gently apply 1-2 drops 100% VIT E oil to the area twice daily, and throughout the day if possible.
  • Continue this for a minimum of 4 weeks to nourish the skin.
  • DO NOT start applying VIT E oil until all scabs have naturally & completely fallen off.
  • Once you have entered this phase you may go back to your normal routine other than applying the VIT E oil.

IMPORTANT DURING THE FULL 2 WEEKS OF HEALING:

  1. DO NOT GET THE AREA WET. You can shower as normal but keep the area out of the shower spray as best as possible and do not let the area stay damp for more than a few minutes. If you accidentally get the area wet, very gently pat dry with a clean tissue.
  2. NO: Bathing, swimming, saunas, hot tubs, tanning, makeup, or exercise until ALL scabbing is gone. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  3. DO NOT disrupt the scabbing process (no picking, scratching, touching etc). All scabbing needs to fall off naturally. If you force or pick a scab off you will disrupt the process of osmosis and potentially cause scarring. It is critical to keep the scabs on as long as possible to achieve optimum results.
  4. TREAT THE AREA WITH TLC.
  5. If you have any questions or concerns please call the clinic. If at any time there are signs of infection, contact your doctor immediately.
  6. LIP TATTOO REMOVAL ONLY: Drink liquids with a straw until all scabbing has naturally fallen off. Brush with natural toothpaste (no whitening or peroxide toothpastes). Cut food into small bits. Try to keep mouth expressions to a minimum until all scabbing is gone.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. It is important to the removal process and the integrity of the skin that 8 full weeks take place before another lightening session can be done. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. Lightening and/or removing unwanted pigment is a long process and patience is required. This is true whether you are choosing a lightening product, saline removal service, or laser removal. Please be patient and give the process a fair chance to work. Expect visible and wanted results in 2-5 sessions. How many sessions needed will depend on how saturated the pigment is, how deep it was implanted, whether there is any scar tissue present, what ink was used, how much of the area needs to be removed, the health of your skin, your immune system, your lifestyle, and more.
  3. In many cases only a percentage of the pigment needs to be lightened/removed and then we can continue the correction process by colour correcting or colour shifting with new pigment. In cases where the old shape is incorrect, colour correcting will not be an option, and removing as much of the pigment as possible will be necessary.
  4. Results cannot be foreseen, predicted or guaranteed due to the nature of tattoo removal and the variables between cases.
  5. There is always a risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. This can happen during the removal process, or it can be caused by the tattooing process and revealed by the removal process. In most cases this will go away over time, and is largely dependent on the health of your skin, the existing tattoo to be removed, and how carefully you adhere to the removal aftercare instructions.

How to continually look after your cosmetic tattoo

AVOID:

  • Active ingredients and certain chemicals in your cosmetics & skincare will accelerate fading. Avoid the area. What are active ingredients? AHA’s (glycolic & lactic acid), BHA’s (salicylic acid), benzoyl peroxide, bleaching agents (hydroquinone), vitamin A (retinol) & vitamin C (ascorbic acid).
  • As a general rule, keep most anti-aging products away from your cosmetic tattoo (surrounding areas are fine).
  • Microneedling, dermabrasion, chemical peels and other skin treatments that encourage cell turnover will contribute to fading. Ask your dermatologist or skin therapist to avoid your cosmetic tattoo.
  • DO NOT get IPL or laser resurfacing treatments near your cosmetic tattoo. The laser has the potential to cause fading, lightening, darkening or discoloration of the area. Please inform any technicians of your cosmetic tattoo.

DO:

  • Wear SPF when in the sun, excessive UV exposure over time will cause your cosmetic tattoo to fade faster.
  • Do ensure to take care of your skin health in general. Your cosmetic tattoo sits just under the surface, so if you have damaged skin sitting on top it can affect the way your cosmetic tattoo looks. Gentle exfoliation every week will prevent dead skin cells from building up over your cosmetic tattoo.
  • Once healed, minor patchiness is normal. Many clients also prefer to go bolder after the first session, as we always start off conservatively. Do book in for your complimentary 4-8 week perfecting session to make any necessary adjustments and to get the most out of your treatment.
  • Do book in for a colour boost in 1-2 years time to keep your cosmetic tattooing topped up (varies based upon age, lifestyle, skin type, health, medications and more).

What cosmetic tattooing services do you offer?

Airbrushed Brows, Hybrid Brows & Lip Blush Tattooing & saline tattoo removal.

What is eyebrow tattooing and what is involved?

This is a semi-permanent treatment where pigments are implanted into the skin to create more symmetry, balance & definition of the brows. The shape, technique, saturation & colour is custom designed to suit you perfectly. Tawny thrives on producing extremely natural results. Having great brows will completely transform, frame & balance your face!

What are Airbrushed Brows?

A soft shading technique that resembles a “tinted” or “shadow” effect once healed. Perfect for clients who naturally have a balanced shape, but are seeking definition throughout the body and tails of their brows. Also a great option for clients who have very little to no natural hair.

What are Hybrid brows?

A combination of Airbrushing and Nano “hairstrokes.” Perfect for clients requiring shape adjustment, for gappy brows, or brows that start too far apart. Nano strokes are created using a PMU machine, and are different to microblading (where micro cuts are created to implant pigment). Nano strokes provide longer lasting results and are a very safe option for your skin long-term.

What is lip blush tattooing and what is involved?

This treatment is for clients desiring more colour in their lips, but in a natural way. As we age we naturally lose pigment in our lips, which can start to give a more washed out look. Replenishing a soft blush of colour will restore youth in a subtle yet powerful way. The colour is softly dusted over the lips and blended perfectly so that nobody will suspect a thing. The key is in the colour choice, which is customised to match your natural lip colour & skin tones. Giving the illusion of fuller lips without actually making them bigger, lip blush tattooing is the new filler! Combine the two, and you have magic!

How long does cosmetic tattooing last?

Results last on average 1-2 years + depending on skin type, lifestyle, health, medications & other factors.

When is my follow up appointment?

Your complimentary touch up will be 4-8 weeks following initial treatment appointment. We always start conservatively for the first session, therefore the follow up appointment is necessary to achieve optimum results.

How long does it take?

The first session takes 4 hours and the touch up 2 hours. Consults are a 1 hour appointment.

What is the healing process like?

During the healing process you will experience somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster, best described as ‘brow-polar.’ This process takes 2 weeks on average. On the day of treatment you will be in love with your new brows! On day 2, they will look very dark! This is called oxidation, and is a normal part of the healing process. Around the 1 week mark your brows will become tight and start to ‘flake.’ They may also feel slightly itchy during this phase, but it’s very important to leave them alone! Once the old layer has shed, you may feel the colour is very dull & faded, and in some cases it may even look gone completely! Don’t panic! The new skin is collagen rich and creates a temporary veil over the pigment. Over the next week or so you will see the colour come back through!

Is it safe?

Cosmetic tattooing is completely safe when performed by a trained, experienced & licensed professional who is properly qualified for infection control. Lacuna Brows offers the safest & most up-to-date techniques available on the market today. The integrity of your skin is of utmost importance to us. There are always risks associated with treatments that involve skin penetration, however if advised aftercare is correctly followed, these risks are minimal.

Does it hurt?

Numbing cream is optional, but highly recommended. We use prescription grade numbing products, specifically prepared for each client by our trusted compounding pharmacy. This costs $20 + shipping, and is definitely worthwhile. It makes the tattooing process nearly completely painless, in fact many of our clients often relax and fall asleep.

How do you make sure the result is symmetrical?

Tawny uses advanced face mapping techniques to find the perfect brow shape for each client, based upon your bone structure and facial shape. She takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes pre-drawing with a pencil until the shape is 100% perfect. She likes to shape your brows sitting up, as gravity as well as facial muscles have a significant impact on facial symmetry. Tawny will make sure you are completely satisfied with your new brow shape before beginning treatment, she does not believe in rushing such an important step.

Should I get a patch test?

Patch tests are optional, however not required. We only recommend a patch if you have had sensitivities in the past to: numbing products, latex, pigments, glycerin, witch hazel, isopropyl alcohol, aqua, rosin, or DMDM hydantoin (a preservative). Allergic reactions are extremely rare, but can happen. If you would like a patch test, please let Tawny know during your consultation. If you would like a patch test, please let the clinic know as this needs to be done prior to treatment during a consultation.
